Strategic Planning Leadership Team Update

MCC’s Strategic Planning Leadership Team (SPLT), under the leadership of its co-chairs Valarie Avalone and Jasna Bogdanovska, and in partnership with the Collaborative Brain Trust (CBT), is nearing completion of its work on the College’s new five-year strategic plan. The final phase of the project will complete this week as the Draft Vision2027 Strategic Plan moves to the President for Cabinet review.

In addition to SPLT weekly meetings, the SPLT and CBT teams met on April 26-27 to complete the in-depth goal-setting sessions, where Strategic Directions and Goals for MCC’s next five years were identified. In addition, the SPLT team met to finalize the draft. The draft Strategic Plan was then made available for campus review May 2nd. Feedback was gathered via a survey conducted by William Dixon, Institutional Research, May 3-9, 2022.  The results of that survey were reviewed at the joint SPLT and CBT meeting on May 12th. Final edits, based on a thorough review and discussion of college-wide feedback, were forwarded to the President for consideration on May 12th.

The proposed new five-year plan titled Vision2027: Monroe Community College Strategic Plan 2022-2027 includes revised mission, vision, and core values statements.  A newly developed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) statement is also included. Five priorities have been identified as Strategic Directions, along with several goals for each direction, that will lead the college into the future in meeting the changing needs of students and the community over the next five years. The final draft Strategic Plan is scheduled for a first read at the Board of Trustees meeting on June 6, with consideration for adoption in August.

Additionally, the final draft Strategic Plan will be on the voting agenda for endorsement by the Faculty Senate at the June 16th meeting. The discussion board on the Faculty Senate’s Blackboard page is open for feedback until June 4th.

The plan will be implemented beginning Fall, 2022, as vice presidents meet with their respective divisions and departments to develop strategies, work plans, timelines, and measurable outcomes for the Strategic Directions’ goals for the next five years. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will also be developed. Progress will be monitored, and accomplishments communicated as the plan is implemented.

Information about the project and monthly updates are posted on the Planning Webpage.
