Keys, St.Croix and Andreu Attend Working Session on CBE Ex-Sites

By invitation, Terry Keys, Associate Vice President, Instructional Services, Jerome St. Croix, Director, Financial Aid, and Angel Andreu, Director, Research recently traveled to Washington, D.C. for a working session on Competency-Based Education Experimental Sites (CBE Ex-Sites).   The meeting, co-hosted by the Lumina Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, enabled colleges and universities to more fully explore the potential for participation in federally authorized experiments related to using Title IV student aid to pay for competency-based degree programs.

The working session was an opportunity to learn more about the Department of Education’s Ex-Site initiative, explore the benefit of pursuing federal waivers of Title IV law and regulations, and talk with the Department about ways in which these waivers can be implemented to allow institutions to more fully realize the benefits of competency based education for their students.
