Honors Institute Welcomes Class of 2015

The Honors Institute welcomed over 70 new student members during its orientation on Wednesday, August 28th. The day kicked-off with a scavenger hunt where, in addition to finding important campus locations and representatives, teams of students located the nearest bathroom to the Honors classrooms, illustrated how NOT to study in the library, and competed to create the most creative MCC logo.

Following a debriefing and Q&A session dedicated to Honors policies and procedures and then lunch, students engaged in Honors-faculty led small group discussions of The Round House, the 2013 Honors Summer Read. After reconvening into the larger group, the small groups shared their thoughts and insights in a spirited discussion ranging from the question of justice vs. revenge, the nature of artistic motivation, gender roles, cultural biases, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
