From the international virtual campus to podcasting, community colleges have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to innovation and technology. Focusing on access, availability, and affordability for students, the colleges have become the pioneers of academic and technology trends. To foster this effort, in 2005, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) initiated the Futures Institute (FI), dedicated to exploration of the latest technology and its uses in the current educational climate.
