Updating Your Race/Ethnicity for New Government Reporting Standards

Starting Wednesday, September 23, 2009, when you login to Banner self-serve, you will be asked to identify your race and ethnicity in a new format. (You’ll need to select, SICAS Ethnicity Survey.) The Federal Government and New York state have recently changed the criteria for collecting the race and ethnicity. Because of this change, MCC is presenting this survey to ensure that individuals have the opportunity to respond to the new race and ethnicity questions.

All students, faculty and staff are being asked to answer the following questions. All information provided will be kept strictly confidential. You will be asked three questions:

1. Are you Hispanic/Latino (Y/N)

2. If Hispanic/Latino, is your background (select one):
    Central American
    Dominican
    Mexican
    Puerto Rican
    South American
    Other Hispanic/Latino

3. All applicants, please indicate your race (select one or more):
    American Indian or Alaska Native
    Asian
    Black or African American
Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander
    White

Thank you for your cooperation.
