News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center on the Brighton Campus on Monday, June 1 and took the following actions:

1.            Accepted the Interim Financial Reports as of March 31 and April 30, 2015.


2.            Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the month of March 2015.

3.            Approved the Schedule of Tuition and Fees for the fiscal year September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2016.

4.            Approved the Operating Budget for the fiscal year September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2016 in the amount of $124,221,234.00.

5.            Approved the appointment of Michelle Bartell as Chairperson of the Hospitality Department effective September 1, 2015.

6.            Accepted an amendment to the 2015-2016 academic calendar to change the final examination period for day, evening, and Saturday classes, December 19 – 23, 2015 and to align winter and spring recesses with Monroe County Public School Calendars, February 14 – 21, 2016 and March 27 – April 3, 2016.

7.            Approved the Academic Calendar for 2017-2018.

8.            Approved the resolution congratulating the Monroe Community College Tribunes women’s lacrosse team and Head Coach Craig Chamberlain on their accomplishments during the 2015 national-title winning season.

9.            Approved the resolution expressing its appreciation for Student Trustee Ekaterina A. Jones for her leadership and service to the College.

Conducted an Executive Session pursuant to Public Officers Law §105, subsection (c): information relating to current or future investigation or prosecution of a criminal offense which would imperil effective law enforcement if disclosed; (e): collective negotiations pursuant to Article 14 of the Civil Service Law; (f): the medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation, or matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension, dismissal or removal of a particular person or corporation.

The Board heard presentations from Diane Shoger, executive director of the MCC Foundation, on Foundation initiatives, including the very successful Gold Star Gala and incoming board leadership; and President Kress on Direction Three: Partnerships of the College's strategic plan, and changes in parking enforcement that emphasize education over punishment.
