Radiologic Technology Journal Publishes Article by Cynthia Patrick


"Diagnosis and Treatment of Scaphoid Fractures," an article by Adjunct Lecturer Cynthia Patrick (Health Professions) was published in Radiologic Technology, the peer-reviewed journal of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).  The article is a directed reading for continuing education credit for radiologic technologists and appears in the November/December 2010 issue of the journal.

The scaphoid bone in the wrist is the most frequently fractured carpal bone. The article discusses types of scaphoid fractures, issues of special concern (e.g., the risk of avascular necrosis and delayed union or non-union), steps involved in bone fracture healing and various imaging modalities used for scaphoid fracture diagnosis.
