Tutoring and Academic Assistance Center (TAAC)

Tutoring is now available in the Tutoring and Academic Assistance Center (TAAC). The TAAC provides a variety of free services to students currently enrolled at Monroe Community College. Professional and peer tutors are available to assist students in achieving their academic goals. Tutoring is provided by individual appointment and on a drop-in basis (appointments are strongly encouraged). Students wanting to make an appointment to see a tutor may do so in person or by phone.

TAAC Services

  • Professional and Peer Tutors assist students with discipline-specific content, and work with them to develop effective learning strategies.
  • Writing Consultants work with students to develop effective writing strategies and to become self-regulated learners. They also assist with TRS and ESOL students to advance levels of writing in all fields.
  • Academic Coaches assist students with developing effective reading and learning strategies to become self-regulated learners. The role of the coach is to help the student improve academically by identifying strengths and weaknesses and designing appropriate activities to improve their learning or organization.
  • Academic Workshops which provide students with strategies to improve their study skills, time management skills, and organization skills.
  • Provides a quiet space accessible to all students.

TAAC Mission Statement

The mission of the TAAC is to enhance the academic success of Monroe Community College students through campus collaborations, exceptional educational services, learning environments, and workshops. The TAAC is committed to providing tutoring services in various disciplines and empowering students in becoming more independent learners.
