Governor Andrew M. Cuomo directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, June 3, in honor of New York State Police Trooper Christopher G. Skinner.
Trooper Skinner died last Thursday as a result of injuries sustained after being struck by a passing vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
“As we mourn the tragic death of Trooper Skinner, we will fly flags on all state government buildings at half-staff this Tuesday to honor his memory and commitment to the people of New York,” Governor Cuomo said. “Trooper Skinner served his communities with the dedication and selflessness that embodies the New York State Police, and he will be greatly missed. On behalf of all New Yorkers, I offer my thoughts and prayers to his friends and family and wish to express my deepest gratitude for his service.”
Trooper Skinner was a 13 year veteran of the New York State Police, having worked in Troops C, E and G. He was last assigned to the Traffic Incident Management Unit (TIM Detail), Troop C, Delaware County. A resident of Binghamton, Trooper Skinner is survived by his mother, two brothers, sister, fiancée, and two children. Trooper Skinner was 42 years old.
