Flags at Half-Staff

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today directed flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff tomorrow, April 24, in honor of a Fort Drum soldier who died in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany on April 15 as a result of injuries suffered in Afghanistan on April 12.

“On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of Specialist Kerry Danyluk,” Governor Cuomo said. “We are saddened at the death of this young soldier, and we join with his fellow soldiers at Fort Drum in honoring his service to our nation and in mourning his loss.”

Specialist Kerry Danyluk, of Cuero, Texas, was wounded when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire in Pul-e-Alam, Logar Province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team.

Governor Cuomo has directed that the flags on all state buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of and in tribute to our state's service members and those stationed in New York who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.
