Student Success Spring Series

Student Services is pleased to announce several spring workshops that focus on student success. The response to the fall semester interactive presentations was exceptional. We look forward to seeing you at one or more of these sessions this spring.

I: WHO ARE OUR STUDENTS

This presentation and discussion will look at the demographic overview of the 2019-2020 MCC student cohort. In addition to reviewing the make-up of the student body, this presentation will provide information on the non-academic resources available to students, as well as best practices for engaging students outside of the classroom. The workshop will include a discussion on successful practices employed by faculty and staff members to empower students and increase persistence.

Thursday, February 13: 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm (Brighton TBA)

Tuesday, February 25: 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm (Brighton TBA)

Wednesday, February 26: 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm (Downtown TBA)

II: ENCOURAGING STUDENT SUCCESS THROUGH A RELATIONSHIP-CENTRIC CAMPUS CULTURE

The SUNY SAIL Institute (SUNY's training center) has recently promoted the impact of community and a sense of belonging to increase student retention and graduation rates. This interactive program will explore ways faculty and staff can increase student connectivity and a sense of belonging to MCC and to each other.

Friday, February 14: 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm (Brighton TBA)

All employees are welcome to attend these presentations. To rsvp, please email Pam Rende (prende@monroecc.edu) and note which session(s) you wish to attend. If any department would like either presentation for their faculty/staff/department, please make a request via Pam.

We look forward to seeing you.
