Final Session of Diversity Council's Program Series Begins Thursday

The Diversity Council will present the third and final session of its program series “Combating Whispers and Suspicions: Valuing Diverse Hires” from 8 to 9 a.m. April 30 and May 5.

The final session will focus on how RIT and Bausch & Lomb practice diversity. Representatives from these two local employers will discuss the opportunities and challenges they face as they strive for diversity in their workplace.

Scheduled speaker for the April 30 event at the Damon City Campus in Room 5057:

-- Renee Baker, manager of faculty recruitment in the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Department of Human Resources. RIT’s Office of Faculty Recruitment was established in 2002 to provide support, direction and training to search committees conducting faculty searches. It also serves as a resource for minority and women doctoral students, and faculty interested in becoming an educator at RIT.

Scheduled speaker for the May 5 event at the Brighton Campus in the Board Lounge (Bldg. 1, third floor):

-- Clay Osborne, vice president of Workforce Diversity and Organizational Effectiveness in Corporate Human Resources at Bausch & Lomb. The company’s diversity initiatives, using leading-edge employee communications technology, have earned it an International Innovation in Diversity Award from the Profiles in Diversity Journal. The company was recognized for its commitment to develop and foster diversity initiatives and specifically its use of streaming video on Bausch & Lomb TV, which provides employees worldwide with access to its diversity programs.

Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to RSVP to Mary O’Reilly at <mailto:moreilly@monroecc.edu> or 292-2109.
