Update from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees took the following actions at yesterday’s meeting:

*Approved the interim financial reports as of November 2009.

*Approved purchases over $10,000 for the month of November 2009.

*Authorized the transfer of $440,284 between accounts.

*Approved two new associate degree programs – A.S. in Diversity & Community Studies, and A.S. in Individual Studies.

*Approved a new certificate program in Computer Aided Design and Drafting.

*Approved the 2012-2013 Academic Calendar.

*Approved a contract with the Cecil Group Inc. of Boston for up to $74,800 to assist with the selection of a new site for the Damon City Campus.


In her report to the Board, President Kress noted that:

*spring enrollment is up 9 percent; enrollment at Damon City Campus is up over 16%.


*Dr. Susan Salvador, vice president of student services, is the incoming president of the American College Personnel Association.

*Empire State College will not be building a facility on MCC’s Brighton Campus as previously planned. Efforts to establish mutually agreeable lease terms were unsuccessful. The colleges remain strong partners.

*Heze Simmons, vice president, Administrative Services, and Dr. Jeff Bartkovich, vice president, Educational Technology Services, have been asked by SUNY to serve on task forces looking at differential tuition and information technology, respectively.

*Dr. Janet Glocker reported on her recent trip to China as part of the SUNY 150 program. Dr. Glocker traveled with about 200 SUNY colleagues to various parts of China, reconnecting with the SUNY 150 students who studied at SUNY last year (including three at MCC) and making connections with Chinese officials for future partnerships.
