What is the Teaching and Creativity Center (TCC)?

The Teaching and Creativity Center (TCC) provides professional development opportunities for full-time and adjunct faculty at every stage in their careers. Events are free and open to MCC faculty and staff.

Adjunct Faculty Semester Kick-off

Semester kick-off events include orientations and workshops to ensure a great start to the upcoming semester. Events are held at the Brighton Campus and include dinner. Join us as we build relationships in support of student success, academic innovation and collaboration.

Adjunct Faculty Suppers for Success

These workshops are held on the Brighton Campus three times per semester from 5 - 6:30. Following dinner, MCC faculty and staff lead informative workshops. Recent topics have included: collaborative learning, getting your students to read the textbook, developing a growth mindset and study skills. Presenters anticipate that some participants may need to arrive late or leave early.

TCC Conversations @ Noon

In support of our annual theme, join colleagues for informative hour-long conversations on the Brighton Campus during each semester. Conversations are also hosted at the Downtown Campus during the Spring semester. No need to register for these. Feel free to bring your lunch.

TCC Half- and Full-day Conferences

Fall Forum

Mid-semester • Downtown Campus

This event introduces the TCC's theme for the upcoming academic year.

Winter Teaching Institute

January • Downtown Campus

A series of concurrent workshops focused on teaching and designed to present ideas you can use during the upcoming semester.

Teaching and Learning Conference

Professional Development Week (June)

  • Brighton Campus

The culmination of the TCC's annual theme, this event is popular with faculty and typically attracts a crowd.

Reflective Practice Groups (RPGs)

For those looking for sustained professional development with a group of colleagues, try an RPG. Led by trained facilitators, RPGs offer opportunities to openly discuss curriculum, teaching dilemmas, student work, and pivotal moments and provide each other with specific and actionable feedback.
