From the Land of Mt. Everest to the Streets of Rochester, NY: The Bhutanese-Nepalese Refugee Predicant: How Community & Interfaith Intervened to Help and How You Can Too

Please join us for a stimulating panel discussion regarding crimes in the city that impacted waves of new refugees from Bhutan and Nepal. Jon Hand from the Democrat & Chronicle, Former Police Chief James Sheppard, and Reverend Dr. Michael Ford the Sr. Pastor at Lake Ave. Baptist Church will help us to understand what took place and how the community responded. They will share lessons learned and provide information on how we can help.

*GEIS has organized a community service project for students related to this program. There will be a sign-up sheet available at the program for students to volunteer at Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach. Interested students will donate, prepare, and share a meal at Mary’s Place with refugee families. Please contact Audra Dion (GEIS) <mailto:adion@monroecc.edu> for questions or further details.
