The Ubiquitous Last Date of Attendance and Other Last Minute Stuff

I discussed the need for the last date of attendance for all “F” and “W” grades in the series on withdrawals but was remiss in not mentioning it again in the grading series. We DO need the last date of attendance for every “F” grade given. If the student attended right through the end of the semester then you would use 12/14/07 (or the appropriate date for your last class meeting.) The final exam week dates are not used for last date of attendance even if the student did take the final exam. If the student never attended please use 9/4/07 as the last date of attendance.

If you have already submitted your grades you will not be able to go back into your roster and submit the last date of attendance. We will have to enter the date in R&R and that onerous task falls to Joanne DiMarco. Please email her the information at <mailto:jdimarco2@monroecc.edu>. Please note that she is #2. If you forget the 2 then the information will go to Jackie in Human Resources and I doubt that she is very interested as Joanne is only mildly interested and she gets paid to love this stuff.

In Banner you are able to grade and submit some of your student’s grades and then come back and grade the others. This comes in handy if you are waiting for a late paper from someone whose dog has a tummy full of research notes. You can grade everyone in the class and, by leaving the grade blank for the late student, input his grade a day or two later on your class list form. You will not be able to change a grade you have already input but you can input a grade you left blank. We couldn’t do that in SIS.

I know that the minute I submit this to the Trib I will get a call about something else I should have addressed. I should have a mail distribution list to the 6 or so people who always let me know whenever I’ve forgotten to include information in an article and have them proof the article before I send it. Of course, in my constant quest to reach the pinnacle of accurate and thorough information, I am sincerely grateful to hear from them five minutes after I press the send button.

On the chance that I have now covered everything about grading that anyone is interested in (and a lot of stuff no one is interested in) and this is my last article before the break -- Happy Holidays to everyone. Thank you for getting your grades input by noon on 12/24.

I’ll be talking to you in the New Year about spring room assignments and enthralling stuff like that.
