Bury my Heart with Tonawanda

The MCC Native American Initiative cordially invites you to a film viewing with Adrian Esposito, a young filmmaker who is an MCC student from the Visual Communications Department.  Shunned by 19th century society, a boy with Down Syndrome finds sanctuary with the Tonawanda Seneca Nation. The film conveys Seneca culture, beliefs, and myths.  The Seneca believe that children with disabilities are sent to us as messengers and teachers, and therefore they treat them with compassion.  Above all, this story reveal the positive effects of love and respect, while challenging our historical stereotypes about Native Americans.  Questions and answers will follow after the film.

 Light refreshments will be offered.
