MCC Photography Student Wins Gold at American Advertising Awards

Andi Paige Calloway, an MCC Visual Communications - Photography/TV (VC02) student, made history at the 2016 RAF American Advertising Awards on Friday, March 18. Andi won a gold ADDY for best photograph in the single color photography category. This is the first time a community college student has won at this prestigious and highly competitive event. Among the entries in the student categories was work from RIT, Nazareth College, Ithaca College, and Syracuse University students.

The winning photograph was created as part of an independent study under the guidance of Professor Jasna Bogdanovska. Esteemed judges from the top advertising agencies in Washington, DC, judged both the professional and student submissions this year.

The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition that recognizes and rewards the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising. More than 500 guests attended this year’s RAF event held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

In addition to Andi’s gold award, 2014 MCC alumna Emily Baker, also from the VC02 program, won two silver awards for her photography.
