MCC RESOURCE COMMITTEE NEWS

Kim DeLardge, Peggy Harvey-Lee and Vilma Patterson attended the #RealCollege: A National Convening on Food and Housing Insecurity conference on Sept 29-30 at Temple University. Over 500 attendees shared best practices on how to support students on basic needs. The information gained will help support the good work already begun by MCC's Resource Committee.

Other updates from the MCC Resource Committee:

A new partnership with Trader Joe's allowed us to receive a generous donation of food items this week which were shared with the MCC Downtown Campus community. We are in the process of finalizing a schedule in the hopes that we can continue to offer this resource to the college-wide community.

The Resource Committee is also pleased to announce that cross-divisional collaboration continues in the support of students with food insecurities. Faculty and staff are donating numerous goods on a weekly basis, and programming on teaching students how to cook is being planned. The Library has also begun collecting food donations at the Brighton and Downtown campuses.

Many thanks to the campus community for caring!
