Kick Off MCC’s Next 50 Years at Alumni Week and Homecoming 2012


We hope you will join us and celebrate MCC’s next 50 years during Alumni Week and Homecoming 2012.  We’ve planned a jam-packed schedule of events and fun ways to connect with students, staff, alumni and friends. Participating in Homecoming is a great way to show your pride in MCC!

To kick start our celebration, golfers and non-golfers alike are encouraged to join the MCC Foundation and Professor Joseph T. Marchese for the Homecoming Classic Golf Tournament and Dinner to be held on Saturday, September 22, a
Mill Creek Golf Club in Churchville!  This September marks Joe’s 45th year as an MCC professor of business administration and economics.  This special dinner and golf tournament celebrates Joe’s commitment to teaching excellence and raises funds to support the Faculty Grant Program.  For more information or to register, visit our Web page.

Our Alumni Week and Homecoming celebration continues with more ways to show your MCC spirit in October:

Wednesday, October 3
SEGA invites you to join MCC students, faculty and staff as we celebrate MCC’s 50th anniversary at the Damon City Campus during college hour.

Thursday, October 4
A day-long, fun-filled celebration complete with rides, games, great food and comedy!  The day begins with the Fall Festival, followed by the Homecoming Carnival and concludes with the headline comedy show featuring local radio personality Duffy.  A $250 scholarship will be awarded to one lucky student in attendance!  This day is sponsored by First Year Experience, CAB and Housing and Residence Life.

Friday, October 5 / MCC Spirit Day! 
Wear black and gold and cheer on your favorite faculty members and our student-athletes as they go head to head in a basketball game on Monagan Court.  Immediately after the game, alumni who are employed at MCC are invited to stay for a group photo.

Attend the MCC Sports Hall of Fame banquet and join the MCC family in applauding the success of this year’s inductees:  David Smith '75, baseball; Jefferson Dargout '02, men's soccer and tennis; Doug Brown '67, contributor and former director of the MCC Association; and Erynn (Clapp) Banks '04, women's basketball.  Call 292-2830 for information and tickets.

Homecoming Day, Saturday, October 6
Participate in the MCC Foundation’s 6th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Scholarships.  President Kress will start the race and MCC’s alumni employees are leading the way by forming teams and seeking sponsorships!  A $250 scholarship will be awarded to a student participant.  Join in the fun and help raise scholarship dollars for MCC students.

Following the race, join President Kress, alumni, friends and students for a delicious hot buffet lunch, then cheer on the MCC Tribunes as they face rivals in men’s and women’s soccer. 

Thursday, October 11
Join Chef Gerry Brinkman, Michelle Bartell and students from MCC’s Hospitality Management Department in the cooking lab for a relaxed and entertaining cooking demonstration and tasting session—complete with wine pairings presented by in-house expert David Boni!  Attendees will discuss various cooking techniques, ingredient selection, plate presentation, nutrition and menu planning.
