New Organizational Structure Proposed

Provost Mike McDonough's recently announced departure for the presidency at Raritan Valley Community College offered us more than just a chance to celebrate his outstanding achievement.  It also provided the impetus to consider how to fill this vacancy—and others--and position MCC for continued success in the midst of many large scale projects and initiatives: planning, designing and building the new downtown campus, engaging in the Middle States self-study process, implementing the Academies, managing the Title III and TAACCCT grants, and more.  This is a busy time at MCC, making continuity in leadership and vision more important than ever.

Over the past few weeks, I have met with representatives from all MCC divisions to draft a proposal for an organizational structure that recognizes both the opportunities provided by several administrative vacancies and works to align reporting pathways more effectively with the College's strategic directions and needs.  Our proposal provides sustained leadership, supports MCC's strategic plan, and encourages innovation and collaboration.  Significantly, it also responds to recommendations from the Budget Resource Committee on flexible workforce and the need for greater Banner support.

I have provided the Special Committee on Administrative Affairs with the new organizational structure proposal.  SCAA will begin its due diligence and review after the April break.  I will also be scheduling forums following the break to walk through the vision and logic of the structure and respond to any questions from the college community.  Please take advantage of these chances to learn more about the proposal and to provide your input.  Thank you.
