Nursing's Kimberly Aquila & Laurie Palmer Selected to Attend QSEN Conference

Kim Aquila and Laurie Palmer were selected and did attend the American Association of Colleges “Nursing Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN)” Education Consortium Institute in Phoenix, Arizona January 12-14, 2011.  This institute focused on QSEN competencies which are related to quality and safety in health care.  Entry-RN program faculty and chief administrators were introduced to the QSEN competencies and how to implement these competencies into nursing curriculum using a train-the-trainer model.  Only 1400 faculty members nation-wide have been trained to date in working with the QSEN competencies.   Participants are considered pioneers in this shift in pedagogy which may have regulatory health care implications in the future.  The QSEN initiative is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
