Community Fridays for a Cause

The next Community Fridays for a Cause is tomorrow, December 6th.

Gilda’s Club will be the recipient of donations raised through the “Community Fridays for a Cause” program.

Gilda’s Club captures the unique combination of camaraderie, friendship, humor, ambiguity, fear and hope that arises when people face cancer in our community - whether they are a person with cancer, family member or friend. A "clubhouse" where men, women and children share their hopes and fears, wisdom and information, learning together how to live with cancer, whatever the outcome, provides the warm and welcoming site of the cancer support community that is now part of Gilda Radner's legacy.

At Gilda's Club, members can relax and talk freely among friends, away from the pressures of daily life and without having to be guarded or 'act normal' about having cancer. At Gilda's Club, cancer is normal. Gilda's Club complements the fine medical treatment and care available in our community. Social and emotional support is as essential as medical care.

When cancer happens, it happens to the whole family and its social network. Family and friends are encouraged to become members, as well as those living with a cancer diagnosis. The program is offered free-of-charge to everyone.

Gilda’s Club is located at 255 Alexander Street is a non-institutional environment that is warm and welcoming where personalized programs are provided that enable and encourage members to manage and enjoy day-to-day living.

We all know someone who has had cancer or is currently living with cancer.  Please be generous in your donations to Gilda’s Club to support the unique work they do for our community.

Donations will be collected in each department.  All checks should be made out to Gilda’s Club.  Donation envelopes have been returned to the departments to be used again on December 6th.   Please bring donation envelopes to Jodee Biller in the Controller’s Office no later than 4:00 PM on Friday, December 6th.
