Encyclopedia of Popular Culture Edited, Authored by MCC Faculty

In the Introduction to "The Greenwood World Encyclopedia of Popular Culture," Lynn Bartholome, Ph.D., associate professor, English/Philosophy, and volume editor for the book writes, "The next installment in the Middle East saga has yet to be written. Perhaps by exploring the popular culture of this diverse "crossroads of the world," we can begin to understand the complexity of the Middle Eastern situation. We may also be able to propose some antidotes for the current state of affairs."

While Bartholome, who is the immediate past president of the Popular Culture National Association, served as volume editor of the encyclopedia and wrote a chapter on periodicals, several of her colleagues contributed chapters as well. These include: Matthew Hachee, architecture; Stasia Callan, dance; Elizabeth D. Johnston, fashion and appearance; Heather L. Williams, food and foodways; Kathleen O'Shea, sports and recreation; Holly Wheeler, transportation/travel; and Ann Tippett and Michael Doolin, theater and performance.
