The Annual Women’s Wellness Conference “Total Woman: Mind, Body & Spirit” was a huge success with over 150 women from Monroe County attending, including registrants, vendors and workshop speakers. The March 10th conference was hosted by Monroe Community College and the Rochester Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Paula Sheinberg of Alternatives for Battered Women kicked off the conference. Her comments emphasized that women need to be self-aware -- of who they are and what types of situations they place themselves in. Executive Director of Wilson Commencement Park Iris Banister’s closing remarks were empowering. Attendees came away with added knowledge about how to propel themselves to the next level of their lives.
Other workshops and presenters included, Success Stamina by Tracy Archie (Admissions), Self- Defense with Bill Brewer (HPE), Fear, Faith & Forgiveness with Erika Haygood, Relationships with Lesli Myers, Diabetes with Dr. Robert Harrison, Financial Management with Henrene Brown and Francis Clement, Boxing with Charles “The Natural” Murray and much more. Karla Baxter (HPE) did a wonderful job as Mistress of Ceremonies and registrants were able to take advantage of massages given by Empire Therapeutic Massage (Anne Flatley) and gym memberships from Rochester Athletic Club, Midtown Athletic Club and Personal Health Approach (PHA).
Conference organizer and HPE Instructor Melany J. Silas enthused, “I was thrilled with the turnout! The energy of the young women was inspiring. They are so eager to learn. I am definitely looking forward to next year’s 4th Annual Women’s Wellness Conference.”
