John Nyerges, Asst. Professor in Visual & Performing Arts Department, Produces an Electronic Press Kit

John Nyerges, asst. professor of the Music area in the Visual & Performing Arts Department, produced an electronic press kit (EPK) for his MUS 145 Small Jazz Group which includes two MP3s, a group photo, and their names. The CD-quality multitrack recording of the group took seven hours on Thursday, October 27 and several other sessions outside of class to mix, master & then converted to MP3 in the MCC studios. The recording was done to give the students an experience of a professional recording session and to hear and analyze their performance afterwards in class. The EPK was also used to submit to the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival audition process in hopes of being chosen to perform in the June 2012 Jazz Fest schedule on the Gibbs Street stage.

"The students played very well and learned a lot about the recording and mixing process and experienced what it takes to perform in a very professional situation," said Nyerges.
