Matt Fetzner, Assistant Professor of Engineering Technologies, recently visited the Finger Lakes Community College campus as a member of the External Review Team for the Evaluation of FLCC’s Mechanical Technology program. Joining Prof. Fetzner on the team were Associate Professor Christopher Tomasi from the Mechanical Technology Department at Alfred State College, and Wendy Johnson, an Application Engineer with Gorbel, Inc. As part of their duties, the External Review Team met with the leadership of FLCC, toured the program facilities, and discussed with faculty the program design, curriculum offerings, and physical resources available to students.
External review is an essential part of program evaluation, a process mandated by SUNY and by the Middle States Commission of Higher Education as a means to ensure continuous program improvement. In addition to this service, Matt Fetzner recently completed the 2009-10 evaluation of MCC’s own Mechanical Technology Program, as well as an evaluation of the Construction Technology program at MCC in 2008-09.
