Engineering Design Team Triumphs at 2010 SUNY TYESA Engineering Design Competition

Congratulations to the MCC Engineering Design Team that won first, second, and third place at the 2010 SUNY TYESA (Two-Year Engineering Science Association) Engineering Design Competition held at the Borough of Manhattan Community College May 1. Eighteen teams from five New York state community colleges participated.

The event required student teams to design and build autonomous robots that could play a form of baseball on an 8’ x 8’ playing field. The robots were required to shoot ping-pong balls into outfield targets, and then round the bases in the least amount of time.

The teams were lead by Christopher Kumar (Engineering Science and Physics), Don Howard (Applied Technologies), Darwin Snow (Applied Technologies), George Fazekas (Office and Computer Programs, and John Wadach (Engineering Science and Physics). The support of the Brighton Campus Student Senate and Betty Stewart (Campus Center) made the trip possible.
