New Provost and Vice President, Academic Services to Join MCC on July 8th

Please join me in welcoming Andrea Wade, Ph.D. as MCC's new Provost and Vice President, Academic Services. Dr. Wade is currently the Associate Vice President and Dean at SUNY Broome Community College. She will begin her new role at MCC on July 8, 2015.

Before moving into administration, Dr. Wade had achieved the rank of full professor in Medical Laboratory Technology and been recognized with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.  Her accomplishments as a faculty member led to her invitation to serve on SUNY's Network of Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Assessment. She has extensive experience with online learning and is currently the campus coordinator at Broome for Open SUNY.  In addition, Dr. Wade is serving on the SUNY Starfish Committee, which focuses on the implementation of that tool — also adopted by MCC — to increase student retention.  Her experience with developing new educational programs, extensive teaching background, experience in raising external funds, and commitment to shared governance will serve her and the College well in her new role at MCC.

I thank the members of the Search Committee who gave tirelessly of their time to help select the our new provost and thank Academic Foundations Dean Kate Smith and Health and Physical Education Chair Doug Henneberg for their leadership as co-chairs of the committee.  Dr. Wade spoke very highly of the committee members and her interactions with the College community, praising the warm welcome and engaged interactions with faculty and staff she experienced during the process.
