College Update on COVID-19 Efforts & Cases

MCC has conducted 964 pooled tests on campus in the past two weeks alone! To date, our pooled tests have come back negative. Thank you to all who have supported, staffed and participated in testing. Your efforts are keeping our community safe and are much appreciated.

As of today, October 26, the Monroe County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) has confirmed and notified the College of 3 positive cases of COVID-19. According to MCC Health Services:

  • 3 students are isolating on campus in Tribune Hall
  • 14 students are isolating off campus
  • 24 students are in mandatory quarantine (on and off campus)

Please note: The SUNY COVID-19 Tracker and Monroe County Dashboard are updated daily and may not exactly match the reporting provided above.

MCC is unable to legally disclose any further details or personal identifiable information about these students and employees per federal privacy laws.

Contact tracing is completed and people who need to quarantine or isolate have been notified. At this time, there is not a need to cancel classes or activities. If the MCDPH indicates that additional steps need to be taken, we will update you immediately. Should the number of positive cases within a two-week period rise to 67*, SUNY would require the College to transition to 100% remote learning for a minimum of two weeks.

COVID-19 pooled testing will be held tomorrow, October 27 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A/B). Call the hotline at (585) 292-8310 to make an appointment.

MCC adheres to federal, state and county guidelines and requires mask wearing, social distancing, hand washing, respiratory etiquette and daily health self-assessments on campus. Please visit our Return to Campus web pages for the latest updates as well as information on protocols, pooled testing requirements and instructions, and SUNY-mandated sanctions for student non-compliance. If you have additional questions, please contact us at covid19response@monroecc.edu.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation to safeguard health and safety.

*The SUNY COVID-19 Tracker will be updated to reflect this number.
