Let Students Know: Opportunities to Apply for College Aid

Some students do not apply for financial aid because they have made the wrong assumption that they are not going to be eligible for financial aid. In general, they made this assumption because they do not understand the financial aid process and/or they do not know about the opportunities the financial aid world has for them.

There are many sources of financial aid. Students may apply for federal aid, state aid, college aid and private aid. Financial aid is not just free money (grants); it is also loans (money you pay back with interests), work-study (money that you earn), and scholarships (free money for students who meet specifics criteria).

If you have any students that are not participating of the financial aid programs, please encourage them to apply immediately.

If your students need assistance applying for financial aid, the Financial Aid Office offers assistance in the Financial Aid Lab. During the scheduled times, students are able to file their FAFSA & NYS TAP applications online. Members of the MCC Financial Aid Office staff are present in the lab to provide assistance to students with these programs.

For your convenience, please find attached the Financial Aid application workshop schedule. It takes about 45-60 minutes to complete the application that will help students to pay for their college educational expenses. It is worth to try it!!!
