Community College Citizen Preparedness Course now Online

MCC’s Homeland Security Management Institute has launched the Community College Citizen Preparedness Course in an online format. The 2 hour curriculum was developed under a grant from the Department of Homeland Security and is a nationally recognized DHS course.

This important course addresses the knowledge, skills and abilities students and faculty need to survive natural, technological, and artificial disasters. Whatever the scale of the disaster, members of the local community will carry out the first response. Therefore, students and faculty need to be able to understand preparedness as it pertains to their unique situation and to their responsibility as a citizen. Inherent in this responsibility is an understanding of specific threats and how to respond.  Furthermore, the program contains specific information you need to know about Monroe Community College and its preparedness initiatives. The course is split into modules and can be completed in smaller sections based upon the students/faculty available time.

Students and faculty who take the course will receive a DHS certificate of completion and will be entered into a drawing to receive a free emergency kit from the Homeland Security Management Institute. HSMI will draw 10 names per month for free kits.  Winners will be notified.
