MCC Students Present Biomedical Research at RIT


On Friday, Aug. 10, nine MCC Rochester Biomedical students presented their summer individual research projects at the 16th annual RIT Undergraduate Research Symposium. The students completed their research this summer in RIT biomedical labs as part of their Rochester Biomedical Experience program. The following students presented their research:

LaDonna Lewis (cohort 1) presented an oral presentation on her research into the diet of NY river otters.

Aaron Johnson (cohort 1) presented a poster on his studies on comparing similarities in DNA sequences of various organisms using bioinformatics. Aaron is transferring to RIT in September.

Lori Stewart (cohort 2) presented her poster on the study of the tumor suppressor gene p16.

Jocelyn Santiago (cohort 2) presented her poster on assaying for potential mutagenic chemicals.

Brianca Parker (cohort 2) presented a poster on her studies of presbycusis (age-related hearing loss).

Beniam Yeataihe and Mohamed Mohamed (cohort 2) were co-authors on a poster assessing the effectiveness of the lactase enzyme.

Mayra Rodriguez and Anil More (cohort 2) were co-authors on a poster studying the bacterial contamination of Rochester area water supplies.
