Field Course Visits the Wild Wild West

This summer, from July 8-21, Field Studies in the Geosciences (GEO 295), conducted lab exercises in the high country of Colorado.  Students were trained in geologic methods, and worked with a series of professionals, including hydrologists, geographic information scientists, economic mineralogists, and environmental scientists.  Field stops included Black Canyon of the Gunnison (shown in the attached picture), Dinosaur National Monument, Colorado National Monument, Florissant Fossil Beds, Great Sand Dunes National Monument, and the San Juan Mountains Volcanic Complex.  GEO 295, offered annually in the spring semester, is scheduled to visit southern Utah in 2016.  For information on this course and others offered by the department, visit the department Facebook page, or the department's webpage.
