MCC will host today's 2:00 p.m. ITC audioconference entitled Support 'Virtual' Adjunct Faculty: Revisiting the Seven Principles of Good Practice with presenter Maria Puzziferro, Associate Dean at Florida Community College at Jacksonville (location - Board Lounge).
This presentation will share seven best practices, within the framework of Chickering and Gamson’s "Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education," for recruiting, hiring and supporting online adjunct faculty teaching online. Florida Community College at Jacksonville supports more than 30,000 distance learning enrollments per year, and about 70 percent of courses are taught by adjuncts from all over the country. The presentation will share insights about this process, provide a working model for staffing online courses, and discuss the successes and challenges faced.
