It’s that time of year again when you can make changes to your health insurance. Please take time to review the attached Health Insurance Rate Sheets. You may decide to make a plan change based on the 2009 rates. An new form must be completed if you move to a different health plan.
Flexible Spending Accounts
A Flexible Spending Account allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars for out of pocket costs related to health, dental, vision, dependent care, parking and transit expenses. You must complete a form (attached) to set up a Flexible Spending Account. You can also obtain a form through the HR Office and they are sent out to each Department and will be available in the departments next week.
Supplemental Retirement Accounts
A Supplemental Retirement Account (SRA) is a pre-tax retirement savings program. This type of account allows you to defer paying federal taxes on the savings you set aside until you retire. Please read the attached document for further information on 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Accounts. We also have 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plans available. Please contact Karen in the HR Office at 292-2113 for more information regarding these plans.
If you have an existing SRA Account, your annual goal amount from 2009 will roll over into 2010. If you would like to make any changes, you must complete a new form. This is especially important for those who made an adjustment to their goal amount or started a new plan in the middle of the calendar year last year. You will probably want to adjust your annual goal amount to reflect a full year of deductions.
Enrollment forms are available for all of the above mentioned benefits through the attached links, online and in the Human Resources Office. All forms are due back to Human Resources no later than December 1, 2009.
