Avalone Presents at Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)

Valarie Avalone, Director of Planning, presented at the 2012 MSCHE Annual Conference in Philadelphia last week.  The title of the presentation was “Perspectives on Accreditation: How Accreditation Issues Impact Higher Education Planners.”

As accreditation expectations become more stringent and compliance requirements grow, self-review is becoming an integral and ongoing activity on campuses.  Institutions are expected to illustrate accountability, integrated planning and institutional effectiveness through transparent processes.  The use of outcomes-based evidence, continuous quality improvement rooted in strategic planning, and compliance with accreditation standards is required.

Avalone shared how MCC has structured its planning processes, integrated planning and budgeting, created evaluation processes for professional/administrative offices, and utilized software to document activities which focus activities on improving quality and performance while also generating solid evidence that the College is meeting accreditation standards.
