Finding Our Way in a Flat World: Charting a New Course for Education - ITC Audioconference

MCC will host the Instructional Technology Council's professional development audioconference entitled, "Finding Our Way in a Flat World: Charting a New Course for Education," on Tuesday, October 17 from 2:00-3:00pm in the Board Lounge. The presenters is Bill Sams, Associate Provost for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for Ohio University; Chair, eTech Ohio Commission.

A perfect storm is approaching the field of education that combines globalization, technology, productivity, accountability, engagement and funding. How the various institutional structures of education weather this storm will be the result of informed preparation.

In addition to the storm, new challenges will require imaginative approaches to address issues such as: How do we educate people for their future rather than our past? How do we prepare people for success in industries yet to be invented? How do we prepare our youth to answer questions that we cannot imagine? What would change if we set a national priority to optimize the potential of every individual?

This presentation will give you an overview of key areas in technology and their implications for new approaches to learning delivery systems as well as provide you with a list of concepts and resources for application in the classroom and hopefully allow you to derive personal energy from the coming storm.
