Sign installation at Downtown Campus Attracts Media Attention

This week, MCC is installing a rooftop sign at its Downtown Campus, extending the college's presence in the High Falls District and beyond.

The first day of installation work generated coverage from the news media, including News10NBC, Spectrum News, and 13WHAM:

Some interesting facts about the sign and the installation project:

  • The sign is 139 feet wide and composed of 12-foot-high letters and shield, in MCC's black and gold college colors.
  • The shield alone weighs 450 pounds. The total weight of the letters--spelling out "Monroe Community College" and "State University of New York"--is over 1,500 pounds.
  • The sign uses LED lighting, chosen for its energy efficiency and longevity.
  • It is visible from I-490, neighboring Frontier Field and other locations throughout the city.

The signage project is a partnership between LaBella Associates D.P.C. and Manning Squires Hennig, the prime contractor for the installation.
