"Rochester's Deaf Heritage" Lecture


The LeRoy V. Good Library (Brighton campus) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a lecture Wednesday, October 14, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Professor Harry Lang, National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) at Rochester Institute of Technology, will be lecturing on “Rochester’s Deaf Heritage.” The lecture will be located on the 4th floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.

Harry Lang is a deaf professor with 39 years' experience at NTID. He is a graduate of the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, and earned his BS in Physics from Bethany College (West Virginia), his MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, and his doctorate in Education from the University of Rochester. He has published over 50 research and theoretical papers on teaching science and mathematics to deaf students and 8 books in the area of Deaf Studies. He was the Senior Advisor on the production team of the PBS documentary, "Through Deaf Eyes." In 2006, he was awarded the Rochester Institute of Technology Trustees Scholarship Award in recognition of establishing an outstanding record of academic scholarship.

The lecture will be translated for the hearing.
