Professor Emeritus Wins Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award


The Association of Fundraising Professionals Genesee Valley Chapter awarded MCC Professor Emeritus Henry P. “Pete” French, Jr., Ph.D. the chapter’s Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser 2010 award! The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in coordinating and motivating groups of volunteers for fundraising projects for the benefit of more than one non-profit demonstrating a commitment to the advancement of philanthropy. Celeste Amaral, Eileen Grossman and Marian Turner were also nominated for the award.

The award was presented on November 5 before a large audience of community leaders, philanthropists, MCC and MCC Foundation representatives, and members of Dr. French’s family.

A long-time member of the MCC President’s Circle of Donors, the Alice Holloway Young Society and the E. Kent Damon Lifetime Giving Society, Dr. French and his wife, Beverly, have personally given in excess of $100,000 to support student success and teaching excellence at MCC.

Seven organizations joined together to nominate Dr. Henry Pierson “Pete” French as the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of 2010.  The organizations include the MCC Foundation, Rundel Library Foundation, Rochester Regional Library Council, Warner Graduate School at the University of Rochester, Christ Episcopal Church, University of Delaware and Rochester Public Library.
