News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting on the Brighton Campus on Monday, August 14, 2017 and took the following actions:

1. Accepted the Interim Financial Reports as of May 31 and June 30, 2017.

2. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the months of May and June 2017.

3. Approved non-rank promotions in accordance with Article 52 of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association effective September 1, 2017. (See related Tribune article for list of promoted individuals.)

4. Approved the promotions of adjunct faculty effective September 1, 2017. (See related Tribune article for list of promoted individuals.)

5. Expressed its sincere appreciation for professional services and, in recognition of their years of dedicated service to the College, the following were appointed, at the pleasure of the Board of Trustees, to Emeritus Status:

6. Approved the appointments of Aaron Bouyea, Director I, Athletics effective August 21, 2017; Medea Rambish, Dean, Academic Foundations effective August 14, 2017; Melvin Perez, Director I (Chief), Public Safety effective September 1, 2017; and Gretchen Wood, Chief Advancement Officer and Executive Director, MCC Foundation effective September 1, 2017.

7. Approved the reappointments of Vice Presidents Lloyd Holmes, Todd Oldham, Hezekiah Simmons and Andrea Wade effective September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018.

8. Approved a salary increase of 2% for the 2017 - 2018 fiscal year for Officers and Non-Contract Administrators.

9. Adopted the "Transfer and Prior Learning Credit Policy" effective August 14, 2017. The policy will be included on the policy web page.

10. Adopted the "Academic Freedom Policy" effective August 14, 2017. The policy will be included on the policy web page.

11. Approved the 2018 meeting calendar of the Board of Trustees. (The meeting dates are February 5, March 5, April 9, June 4, August 13, October 1 and December 3.)

12. Elected board officers to serve until the next Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees and/or until their successors have been elected and qualified. Officers are Chair Barbara Lovenheim (effective November 1, 2017), Vice Chair Grace Tillinghast and Secretary Linda Hall.

13. Conducted an Executive Session pursuant to Public Officers Law §105, subsection (f): the medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation, or matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension, dismissal or removal of a particular person or corporation.

14. Approved a 2% increase to the annual salary of President Anne M. Kress effective September 1, 2017.

15. Approved a new employment contract with President Anne M. Kress effective September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2022.

The Board heard presentations from Grace Gonzalez, principal, Bonadio and Co., LLP and Jon Miller, partner, Bonadio and Co., LLP on audit planning and scope; Dean, STEM and Health Dan Robertson and students Andrew Agent and Christian Lynch on Out of the Box and Into the Field - the Student Experience in GEO 295; Director Stephanie White, Horizons, MCC Association, on Horizons at MCC; and President of the MCC Foundation Jeremy Wolk on Foundation activities.
