Melany Silas’ Choreopoem to Premiere at Nextstage at GEVA on April 1


Black Girls' Anthem, a choreopoem written and produced by Melany J. Silas (Health and Physical Education), will premiere on the Nextstage at GEVA Theatre in April 2011.

Directed by Kate Washington this dynamic choreopoem embraces the varied voices of women's struggles as well as their triumphs. Black Girls’ Anthem weaves together poetry, dance, music, and drama to transcend the songs of the souls of women as they embark in love, life, and destiny. Themes such as sisterhood, relationships, motherhood, self-esteem, empowerment and much more are addressed in this artistic piece.

The play will be featured April 1-3, 2011 with the following show times:

Friday, April 1, 2011- 2:00pm and 7:00pm
Saturday, April 2, 2011- 2:00pm and 7:00pm
Sunday, April 3, 2011- 2:00pm
