Thomas Felton Helps Recruit Cybersecurity Students

The Department of Information and Computer Technologies (ICT) is ramping up its recruitment of candidates for the Cybersecurity Certificate program. Our target audience for the program is diverse, including those with military backgrounds, current or displaced workers in the technology field, workers looking for a career change and current high school students looking to enter into computer related fields. Protecting personal and business data provides a very unique challenge; by way of its Cybersecurity Certificate program, ICT is preparing students to meet the demand in this high needs field.

Thomas Felton, Jr. was invited to visit the
Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES’ Computer Systems and Network Administration class by superintendent Bill Speck. He introduced MCC’s Cybersecurity Program (and had an awesome lunch). He also participated in a student-led tour of the computer lab where he observed the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI)  Model hanging next to work stations as students tested computer networks and a robotic lever. He spoke with approximately 30 students who are interested in:

*  Networking
*  Hardware Repair and Setup
*  Programming and Coding
*  Computer Security
*  Software and Video Game Design
