Doorway to Success: Strong Participation in Last Week's Special Priority Registration

On Wednesday, October 27, 2010, twenty-eight African American and Latino male Doorway to Success students participated in a special priority registration (PAR) in preparation for the Spring 2011 semester.  The advisement and registration session allowed the students to work directly with an advisor and/or counselor from the Counseling and Advisement Center.

The PAR afforded the program participants to develop their course schedules, become more familiar with CAPP documents, address any special questions or concerns surrounding their academic progress, and review their future career plans.

This pilot program was a tremendous success and further demonstrates the need to develop comprehensive strategies to serve MCC’s diverse student population.  We wish to thank all those who helped make this advising process a success and look forward to continued support for the Doorway to Success retention initiative.
