The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has selected MCC to receive a 2014 CASE Educational Fundraising Award for overall performance. The honor is given to superior fundraising programs at educational institutions that show solid program growth. MCC is one of six public two-year institutions nationally to receive the award. The MCC Foundation manages all private, non-governmental gifts and support received on behalf of the college.
CASE award recipients are determined based on a blind analysis of fundraising data submitted to the Voluntary Support of Education Survey over a three-year period. Judges consider an institution’s growth in total support, the overall breadth of program area and the pattern of donor growth among alumni and individual donors – indicators of a mature, well-maintained fundraising program.
In 2012-2013, the MCC Foundation increased the number of available scholarships by 35 percent, transferred more than $802,000 in aid to MCC (an increase of 8.1 percent), and grew its endowment to $10 million.
The award reflects the generosity of MCC Foundation supporters and the outstanding efforts of our board of directors, led by Chairperson Daniel J. Burns, regional president, M&T Bank. The Foundation’s growth is driven by our vision to provide every deserving student with the scholarship support they need to complete their educational goals at MCC and become a contributing member of our community.
Other public, two-year institutions to receive the award include Northampton Community College (Pa.), Northern Wyoming Community College (Wyo.), Northwestern Michigan College (Mich.), Sandhills Community College (N.C.) and Tyler Junior College (Texas).
