Don Beech's Reflection on 38 Years of Service as a 2021 Carmen Powers Legacy Lecture Honoree

Don Beech is one of our 2021 Carmen Powers Legacy Lectures honorees. During his 38 years of service at MCC, Don has inspired and supported our international and new American student population at MCC. In his nomination letter, a colleague writes, “Don Beech’s student-centered approach is unmatched at the college. It takes a caring and patient individual to work with this unique group of students, who often face many challenges. Don was sensitive to the fact that many recent immigrants to the U.S. are here because of war, religious persecution, or government instability in their home country. Don Beech has perfected his cross-cultural competencies, and effectively demonstrated them by active listening, appropriate questions, and careful communication.”

Attached are Don’s reflections about his career at MCC. Please take the time to read his reflection and his hopes and wishes for MCC’s future.

Thank you, Don, for sharing your light with us throughout these years.
