Sessions take place during COLLEGE HOUR (12-1pm). These sessions discuss a variety of technology topics. No registration is required – just show up!
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4
MCC@HOME FOR THE MAINFRAME in Room 11-111
Are you currently accessing the mainframe from home using a modem? If you answered “yes” you will want to attend this session. Over the next month, MCC will be moving all college network services to a secure network. You will need to install the MCC@Home software in order to gain access to the mainframe from your home PC or laptop. This session is designed specifically for modem users who need mainframe access from home. Each attendee will receive the MCC@Home software on a CD for easy installation on their home PC. This session will cover how this new software works and how to use it to connect to SIS, FRS, CICS and Focus. Come hear our tips and suggestions for ensuring a smooth software installation and answers to all your questions. Minimum PC Requirements: Win98/ME/2000/XP with a modem connection (e.g. Frontier, etc.). Facilitated by Rob DeGregorio, ETS Communications & Network Services.

ACCESS XP: GAINING CONTROL OF INFORMATION in Room 11-102
Databases are not just for “techies”! Any paper filing cabinet you maintain is a database waiting to happen! By converting paper-based information into electronic format within a database, you can gain control of the information you are responsible for, and easily retrieve and analyze your information with the click of a button. We will have a general discussion and demonstration of the different components that make up an Access database, and review the steps you need to take to transform your database idea into an Access XP information management system! USING E-RESERVES: ETS: LIBRARIES MAKING ACCESS EASY in Room 11-111
For Classes and MCC Committees.
The E-reserves system allows your students to access course and research materials on the web 24/7. This new service is a tool for faculty who want students to have ready access to course reserve materials at the click of a mouse. If you have documents such as PowerPoint presentations, class notes, class syllabuses, solutions, video clips, audio clips or articles that you'd like your students to be able to access from the web, both on and off campus, Electronic Reserves is your solution. Materials may be password protected to limit use to your classes or individual sections. In addition to course materials, MCC committees are able to password protect materials and share them by utilizing the E-reserves system. Facilitated by Ellen Mancuso, ETS Libraries.
