MCC Remembers Rwanda, Welcomes Survivor Immaculee Ilibagiza

The Holocaust Genocide Studies Project at MCC will host its 2nd annual Rwanda Remembrance program with keynote speaker, Immaculée Ilibagiza, survivor of the Rwanda Genocide, international speaker and author of “Left to Tell.” The program will take place at noon and 7 p.m. Monday, April 21, in the MCC Theater. If you plan to attend the 7 pm presentation, be sure to get your ticket(s) this week as it is sure to sell out!

After returning home for spring break in 1994, Immaculee’s life changed dramatically as a result of the Rwanda Genocide – a tragic event during which over 800,000 people were murdered in 100 days. She and seven other women huddled silently together in a cramped bathroom within a local pastor’s house for 91 days! Immaculee will share her story of survival during the genocide and the experiences that transformed her forever.

Tickets to the 7 pm presentation are free to MCC students, faculty and staff; $7 for general public. (Tickets not required for the noon College Hour presentation. Tickets and information are available at www.monroecctickets.com or by calling x2534. Parking is available in lot F.
