Call for Nominations - SUNY Faculty Council on Community Colleges Delegate and Alternate Delegate

The NEG Committee of the Faculty Senate is calling for nominations for a representative (delegate) and an alternate to the SUNY Faculty Council on Community Colleges (FCCC).

The FCCC is the official agency through which the SUNY community college faculty engages in the governance of the University. The FCCC focuses on matters relating to community college faculty and system-wide educational policies and other professional matters of SUNY, and in those areas the FCCC:

- studies, advises, and makes recommendations regarding academic concerns, issues, policies and programs;
- provides opportunity and structure for the faculties of the community colleges to formulate positions on policy matters of common interest to the community colleges for transmittal to SUNY System Administration, community college presidents and trustees;
- provides an opportunity for the faculties of the community colleges to act in an advisory, consultative and planning capacity to the System Provosts Office and Chancellor of the University;
- provides a forum for the consideration of matters of common interest to the faculties of the community colleges;
- provides a means for the interchange of ideas among the faculties of the community colleges; and


The representatives will each serve a three year term. The Delegate is responsible for attending two FCCC plenary meetings each year and expected to actively serve on one subcommittee which meets an additional two times each year. The plenary meetings occur once each semester on a Thursday - Saturday and the committee meetings occur one day in January and one day in August, all at various locations around the state. (Additional committee work is expected outside of plenaries and committee meetings) The Alternate Delegate is expected to attend plenaries and meetings in the absence of the Delegate.


Please submit your nominations by e-mail to Eraj Basnayake (ebasnayake@monroecc.edu), Chair of the NEG Committee, by 3 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019. All candidate nominations must be accompanied by a candidate statement of no more than 500 words outlining the individual's qualifications, reasons for running, benefits to MCC, and/or any other information that would help voters make their decision. Make sure to specify if you are running for the Delegate or Alternate Delegate position.
